Towards the journey of repairing and regeneration of damaged nerve cells, a new breakthrough leads to rejuvenate the damaged CNS neurons. The nerves cell internal clock changes their response & external signals & form neural circuits through synaptic plasticity. It follows the signals & neurotransmission to reach their proper target.

The neuronal axon follows the Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signals & pathways by crosstalk with other pathways during their development. Sonic Hedgehog releases a chemical signal during embryonic development, specifically to notochord & floor plate which is crucial for brain & spinal cord development. The Shh gene is located at 7q36 i.e., long arm of chromosome at 36 position. The internal clock of nerve cells switches its modulatory response to external signals & when it reaches the Shh protein, it becomes repelled by the Shh signal rather than following it. The mechanism reveals that axons change their behaviour once they reach to Shh protein. Therefore it has been predicted that more than one signalling pathways with other external factors are involved during development for axonal direction.

The repairment is very difficult for the spinal cord injuries caused by accident, stroke or some other disease. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a different, new & innovative approach towards the resurrection of Spinal cord.
